For the first time ever, Big Swim is open to all swimmers ages six or older! Join us and make a big splash with our entire swim community and see if you can become the fastest swimmer in NYC.

*Only registered swimmers are permitted in the locker rooms during their session. All spectators must go to the viewing area.

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS
Is there an age limit to register?
No – we are inviting everyone over 6 years old.
Do I need to be a competitive swimmer to participate?
No – we welcome all swim levels to participate!
What do I need to bring in before I check in my child?
Nothing. We will have your name in our systems.
Are spectators allowed?
Spectators can watch from the stadium seats on the second floor of the AquaCenter. You’ll be directed there after your swimmer checks in at the registration table.
What if my child requires additional support or accommodations?
If your swimmer requires additional support or accommodations such as sensory considerations for the Big Swim, we're here to assist you every step of the way. Please don't hesitate to reach out to us at accessibility@asphaltgreen.org with any questions or specific needs your child may have.
Where do my kids go after check-in?
- After checking in, children will change in the locker rooms on the first floor while being chaperoned. Then they will be taken to the pool deck for their race.
- Parents are to go directly to the stadium seating on the second floor. Parents are not allowed in the locker room. Children will be supervised by trained staff.
What if I am late to check-in or my session?
- If you miss the check-in window, you will still be allowed to swim the 25-yards, but we will be unable to track your time, and the participant’s names will not be shown on the scoreboard.
- If you miss your full session, you will be unable to swim as we transition to the next session.
I have two children participating in different events. How does check in work for them?
Each participant must check-in during their designated check-in window. Families who checked-in a child in an earlier session, must return to the line outside to check-in their next child.
What happens after my child is done with the race?
- After the race, children will receive a medal for their race and then head to the locker room to change out of their swimsuit and dry off. They will be guided and supervised by their chaperone.
- Parents are not allowed in the locker room. Instead, they go directly to Dekovats Park, the playground in front of the AquaCenter, to meet their child.
Where can I see my/my child’s results?
Results will be made available after the race. Asphalt Green will send an email to all participants with the link.
