The memory of Asphalt Green Unified Aquatics (AGUA) Masters swimmers Andrew Fisher and Doug Irgang were celebrated at Asphalt Green’s 14th annual Swim for the Future Meet. Held on October 17 at our Upper East Side campus, the event raised money for our Swim for the Future Scholarship. This scholarship was created in honor of Fisher and Irgang after they lost their lives during 9/11. The Swim for the Future Scholarship covers the tuition cost for youth swimmers (with financial need) to participate on the Asphalt Green Unified Aquatics (AGUA) Swim Team.

At the swim meet, 83 swimmers participated in the friendly swim competition to celebrate the scholarship. Fisher and Irgang’s families and friends were present to share stories and support the next generation of swimmers like AGUA Swim Team member Krystal Lara, a Swim for the Future Scholarship recipient. Lara spoke to the crowd about the impact the scholarship has had on her life. After the meet, guests were treated to reception of light snacks and drinks.

The event was an incredible success. Thank you to all the supporters who came to the swim meet and donated to the Swim for the Future Scholarship. We raised more than $50,000 for the scholarship, which will provide more children with the chance to achieve their swimming dreams.
