Asphalt Green is proud to have one of the premier USMS teams in the United States. We value sportsmanship, honesty, integrity, commitment, and hard work as the means to fulfill one’s full potential in the pursuit of competitive excellence and the enjoyment of the sport.

Asphalt Green has the only indoor 50-meter pool offering long-course practices in New York City. Our workouts are designed with competitive goals in mind such as aerobic endurance, anaerobic threshold, technique and hypoxic work. And our certified coaches develop proper stroke technique, competitive starts and finishes, and efficient turns.

AGUA Masters Team at Asphalt Green

Come Join AGUA Masters

AGUA Masters welcomes swimmers of all abilities and aquatic backgrounds. Athletes in the program range in ability from an Olympic Gold medalists to novice. If you can swim 100 yards (4 lengths) of freestyle our coaching staff can help you improve your skills and endurance. We do not offer swim lessons during regular practice times—although private lessons are available—yet we do provide stroke instruction and feedback. As an added instructional tool, we routinely provide underwater video analysis during workouts. You do not need to be able to swim all the strokes to join! Workouts are adjusted to take into account each swimmer's ability level.

The fastest growing Masters team in the country, now with more than 260 members, AGUA is a part of the Metro Local Masters Swimming Committees and governed by United States Masters Swimming. All swimmers must be registered with USMS to practice with AGUA Masters. Registration forms are available from your coach as are forms if you are transferring from another club. If you have any questions regarding registration or the team please email AGUA Masters.

Private Swim Lessons and Stroke Instruction

Asphalt Green Masters offers private stroke lessons to improve your stoke mechanics and efficiency in the water. Take advantage of this great opportunity to enhance your athletic potential! Our expert instructors work with fitness, recreational and competitive swimmers, focusing on everything from basic freestyle mechanics to competitive starts and turns. Individuals will receive one-on-one attention in our 50-meter Olympic Pool, with underwater video analysis. To sign up for private masters swim lessons, fill out the online registration form.

Fall Willeboordse is heading up our private swim lessons to provide stroke instruction for those hoping to take their swimming to the next level. She will help make your freestyle and other strokes more efficient in order for you to swim smoother and faster, and she can also help to greatly improve your competition starts and turns. Fall competes in both USA Swimming and USMS sanctioned meets—including Sectionals, FINA World Championships and Masters Nationals—and has won 13 national titles and been named All-American for six years. Since 2007, she has given swim lessons, coached Masters, and is completing her coaching certification for USA Swimming. Fall is particularly interested in dryland strength training and speed work for Masters swimmers, as she feels the older you get the more benefits you can derive from a dryland routine. Outside the pool, Fall works as a psychotherapist with adolescents and adults.

Sean McGowan has been a member of the Asphalt Green coaching staff since 2007. He graduated from Fairfield University in 2002, where he was a four-year swimmer and conference finalist in the 100 Breaststroke, 200 Breaststroke and 200 Individual Medley. Prior to joining Asphalt Green, Sean was the assistant coach of Men’s and Women’s swimming at Fairfield University and the head coach at the Fairfield YMCA. He especially enjoys working one-on-one with swimmers to improve stroke technique and set and achieve short- and long-term goals. Outside of the pool, Sean works in sales & marketing for a Japanese printing company.

Lisa Davey graduated from Loyola College in 2005, where she was a four year swimmer and conference finalist in the 200 and 400 Individual Medley and the 200 Breaststroke. After college, she was an assistant coach at Arlington Aquatic Club in Arlington, VA and a volunteer assistant coach for the Loyola College swim team. In addition to coaching, she has taught swimming lessons for years to both children and adults of all levels. She is interested in helping swimmers increase their efficiency and endurance by improving stroke technique and helping people feel more comfortable in the water. Outside of the pool, Lisa works in the biotech industry.
