Swim for the Future Scholarships

Since 2001, the Andrew Fisher and Doug Irgang Scholarship Fund has provided 114 scholarships to kids to swim with the AGUA team. These swimmers excelled in the swimming world at Olympic Trials, Junior Olympics, Senior Nationals, Junior Nationals, Eastern Zones Championships, Sectional Championships, and the National Junior Team while breaking personal, team, and national age group records. Their success would not be possible without you.

Scholarships

Thanks to your generosity, 114 scholarships have been awarded to deserving young swimmers since 2001.

Shirley is a two-time Swim for the Future Scholarship award winner who brings a lot of energy and positivity to the pool as a part of the Senior 11 team. Consistently improving in all of her freestyle events, she works hard as a middle distance swimmer and is always willing to put in the time at practice.




Photo of En-Wei Hu-Van WrightEn-Wei Hu-Van Wright – Age 15
En-Wei is a five-time Swim for the Future Scholarship recipient. A great team leader at workouts and meets, En-Wei currently holds 25 AGUA team, individual, and relay records. En-Wei is a strong competitor and is enthusiastic about racing on the Senior 11 level.




Photo of Lia NealLia Neal – Age 14
Lia received the Swim for the Future Scholarship six times and is a member of the Senior 11 team. Lia competed in her first Olympic Trials in July 2008 and continues to thrive in her age group. At National Championships, she broke her own 13 & 14 Girls’ National Age Group Record in the 50 meter freestyle (25.72). She placed 13th overall and was the 18 and Under National Champion at the event.

Desiree received the Swim for the Future Scholarship four times and is a member of the Asphalt team. Her favorite stroke is breaststroke and she loves racing at swim meets. Desiree has improved on her times and wants to qualify for the Junior Olympics.

Jarleen is in her fifth season swimming as a Swim for the Future Scholarship recipient. This past Long Course season, Jarleen swam her best time in nearly every event. She enjoys being a member of the Senior 1 team and aims to qualify for Zones this year.

Sarahe is a five-time Swim for the Future Scholarship recipient. Sarahe shows great enthusiasm for swimming. She enjoys racing at swim meets and went to the Junior Olympics this year. She is on the Asphalt Team and is working to make her backstroke faster.

Jessica is a six-time Swim for the Future Scholarship recipient and is a member of the Senior 11 team. At Junior Olympics, Jessica was part of the first place team finish for the 13-14 girls. She continued to have a successful short course season and looks forward to swimming in the next year.

Ashley is a member to the Senior 1 Team and a second-time recipient of the Swim for the Future Scholarship. She’s a hard working swimmer with a positive attitude who really enjoys being a part of the team. Ashley has been improving in all of her times.




Photo of Keannie RodriguezKeannie Rodriguez – Age 14
A five-time Swim for the Future award winner, Keannie has been continually improving throughout her time with AGUA. As a Green team member, Keannie was a leader both at practice and swim meets. Keannie moved up to the Senior 1 team and competed in the Junior Olympics 100 IM.




Photo of Nicole Rodriguez Nicole Rodriguez – Age 13
This is Nicole’s third season as both a member of AGUA and Swim for the Future scholarship recipient. As a member of the Senior 11 team, Nicole qualified for her first Sectionals Meet in Boston and swam two lifetime bests. She was also a part of the record-breaking relay team in the 400 meter Medley Relay at Junior Olympics.

This is Daniela’s sixth year as a Swim for the Future Scholarship recipient. Daniela is a strong AGUA leader on the Senior 11 team and consistently challenges herself and teammates at every practice. She competed in the Santa Clara invite in 2009, and will be competing in the Junior Nationals in Federal Way Washington in July.




Photo of Diego RuedaDiego Rueda – Age 14
Diego, currently a member of the Senior 11 team, possesses great determination and a strong work ethic. A leader in practice and competitions, Diego’s love for the sport of swimming is unmistakable. Diego was very successful at Senior Metropolitan Championships for the 200 butterfly. Diego is a six-time Swim for the Future Scholarship winner.

Rebecca is starting her third season with AGUA as a member of the Senior II group. Becky improved many of her times last season, including two best times at Sectionals. This is Becky’s third year as a Swim for the Future scholarship recipient.

Saida is a two-time recipient of the scholarship and is a member of the Asphalt team. During her second season with AGUA, she made all best times. She’s a talented young swimmer who is interested in the training and drills that prepare her for meets. Her enthusiasm for the team is shown when she and her mom volunteer for Swim School mini-meets.
