Jack Fabian, Endurance Sports Head Coach
Mikael Hanson, Asphalt Green Triathlon Club Assistant Coach
Mikael is a USA Triathlon (USAT) and USA Cycling certified coach and works with athletes of all ages and abilities. He has experience coaching with Cadence Multisport, Full Throttle Endurance, and NYU Cycling. Mikael is a nationally ranked duathlete and has represented Team USA at the 2007, 2009, 2013, and 2015 ITU Duathlon World Championships. He was also the 2002 and 2004 New York Flyers (New York City’s largest running club) Multisport Athlete of the Year. Mikael is an avid endurance athlete to this day; he competes in numerous duathlons, triathlons, bike races, running events, and cross-country ski races each year.
Ben Lloyd, Asphalt Green Triathlon Club Coach
Ben holds a Level 1 USAT coaching certification and has been a part-time coach since 2009. He has been a member of the Asphalt Green Triathlon Club since its inception in 2003. Ben has completed 19 Ironman races, including six trips to the Kona Ironman World Championships, and has been awarded All-American status several times by USAT. Ben specializes in working with intermediate to advanced athletes who are training for longer distance races.
Vicky Tiase, Asphalt Green Triathlon Club Coach
Vicky has more than 15 years of triathlon experience and has been a member of the Asphalt Green Triathlon Club since 2003. She is a USAT, USA Cycling, and Road Runners Club of American (RRCA) certified coach. Vicky is a nationally ranked age group Ironman triathlete with a background in marathos. She has excelled at all triathlon distances and is a five-time qualifier at the Kona Ironman World Championships and the Olympic-distance ITU World Championships. Vicky coaches athletes of all levels and uses her professional nursing background to incorporate nutrition, hydration, and cross training into her workout plans.
Ken Szekretar, Asphalt Green Triathlon Club Coach
Ken brings two decades of experience to the Asphalt Green Triathlon Club. He began his career as a personal training and group exercise instructor before getting involved in triathlons. After several successful years racing competitively, he pursued his passion and became USAT Level 1 certified coach. Ken specializes in racing Olympic and half Ironman distance races. He has qualified for the USAT National Championships for the past seven years, and was named a Silver Ironman All World Athlete in 2013. Most recently, Ken qualified for the 2017 70.3 World Championship.
Meghan Newcomer, Asphalt Green Triathlon Club Coach
Meghan is a successful athlete with more than 15 years of experience in competitive endurance athletics. She began racing triathlons in 1999 and currently competes as a professional. Meghan has represented New York at the USA Triathlon Age Group National Championships and placed fifth in the professional women division at the 2012 NYC Triathlon. Meghan is a USAT Level 2 certified coach and works with athletes of all ages and abilities including youth and paratriathletes.
Ann Karine, Asphalt Green Triathlon Club Coach, Battery Park City
Ann is a USAT and USA Track & Field certified coach and a National Academy of Sports Medicine (NASM) certified personal trainer. For 10 years, she has been one of the head coaches for Fred’s Team, an athletic program that raises funds for cancer research. She has also worked with TriTrain Endurance Coaching in California. Ann was an award-winning choreographer and dancer before discovering her passion for endurance sports. She has traveled extensively on bicycle, run marathons, and is an active participant in triathlons. Ann believes we are all stronger than we imagine and loves helping people reach and exceed their goals.
