Asphalt Green Department: Sports

Q: How long have you been working at Asphalt Green?
A: This will be my third year coaching at Asphalt Green.

Q: What do you do at Asphalt Green?
A: I'm part of the soccer staff, leading classes and working on athletes’ progression. I focus on teamwork and individual skill development, improving understanding of the game. Additionally, I coach two Asphalt Green Soccer Club girls' teams, U8 and U10. During the off-season, I work at Asphalt Green Summer Day Camp as a soccer and martial arts coach.

Q: What is your favorite aspect of working at Asphalt Green?
A: I started at Asphalt Green working with Summer Day Camp, and from day one I felt part of the family. Asphalt Green has a great sense of community—from the management staff to the coaches and kids—and everyone is working toward a common goal while having fun.

Q: What is one of your fondest memories of working at Asphalt Green so far?
A: My fondest memories are of the first and last days of summer camp. The first day, there's nothing like welcoming the new Teddies (the youngest campers) while watching groups from the previous year grow. The last day of camp is a mixed bag of emotions—happiness seeing how much children have learned and grown in the eight-week program, but it is also time to say goodbye until next summer.

Q: How did you get into the sports industry?
A: Growing up, sports have always been part of my life. I focused on soccer, volleyball, and basketball. I was introduced to martial arts (Tae Kwon Do) and got hooked. I became a professional Olympic-style fighter, earning many medals and ranking among the best.

Q: Do you play sports today?
A: Soccer has always stayed with me, and I play as often as I can.

Q: What is your favorite sport to watch?
A: I enjoy watching football. I don't know much about it, but I like watching it!

Q: What is your favorite advice to share with players?
A: I try to instill the importance of working as a team, which is created over time and doesn’t happen overnight. Each member has a part in a team's success as well as failure.

Q: What is a fun fact about yourself?
A: I’m obsessed with nachos.
