NEW YORK, April 14, 2016 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ -- PRAMA by Pavigym—a high-tech, immersive workout experience and a sensation at fitness clubs throughout Europe—will debut in North America at Asphalt Green in New York City on Tuesday, April 19. The interactive system of pressure-sensitive floors and walls, with integrated LED lighting and sound, guides exercisers in an unparalleled training environment.
Asphalt Green will debut the technology in the 1,800-square-foot dedicated studio space that will house its new AG6 class. AG6 is a 45-minute, high-intensity, circuit-based workout that that improves muscle memory—your sixth sense—using the new technology. The fee-based classes will be open to Asphalt Green members and non-members.
Asphalt Green's new AG6 fitness class will be the first workout in North America to use interactive PRAMA technology.
"We're thrilled to be the first fitness venue to bring this innovative workout system to North America and New York City," said Maggy Siegel, Executive Director, Asphalt Green. "AG6 creates a fun, fast-paced energy that's unlike anything you've ever seen in a fitness club."
AG6 focuses on reactive and functional training to create a high-energy, interactive workout that pushes one's limits. Spatial floor references with LED lights provide visual cues, prompting movement and training reflexes. The room comes to life with walls and floors that respond to touch, becoming a competitor, teammate, or target.
AG6 trains all major muscle groups through nonstop movement, building endurance, strength, balance, speed, agility, reaction time, and overall fitness. The innovative workout provides complete strength and cardio conditioning, burning up to 1,000 calories in just one 45-minute session.
"AG6 provides functional movement training, so it's phenomenal for athletes looking to improve their performance or anyone who wants to get fit," said Jeff Ward, Chief Program Officer, Asphalt Green. "The system's visual cues train reaction time in a way conventional training methods cannot."
According to Pavigym, Asphalt Green will be the only Manhattan venue to offer PRAMA fitness technology for at least the next two years.
The new AG6 studio is part of a broader overhaul of Asphalt Green's Murphy Center building—a project that includes renovations to the first floor auditorium, a new Sports Performance Center (second floor), a new spinning room and martial arts studio (third floor), and an indoor soccer field (fourth floor) that opened in September 2015.
Asphalt Green's Upper East Side campus is also home to Manhattan's premier Olympic-size indoor swimming pool, a state-of-the-art fitness center, an indoor turf field, and a full-size outdoor soccer field.
