FLAG FOOTBALL

NEw York City youth flag football for every child

Choosing the right sport matters, especially when safety, confidence, and long-term development are top priorities.

Asphalt Green offers a non-contact way for kids to learn the game, try something new, and grow as athletes at every stage. From first-time players to experienced competitors, our programs meet kids where they are and take them to new heights.

That’s why so many families choose flag as a safe alternative for kids who have a passion for football, and a confidence-building sport that kids stick with for years.

Absolutely! No experience is required. Many kids join Asphalt Green flag football as their first introduction to the sport. Coaches focus on fundamentals, confidence, and learning the game in a supportive, age-appropriate environment.

A typical session will include social ice-breakers and drills that progress through the season to build confidence and skills, before progressing into game play.

In NYC, youth flag football programs typically fall into a few categories: instructional classes that focus on skill-building and fundamentals, recreational leagues that offer structured team play, and clinics or camps that run for shorter sessions. At Asphalt Green, we offer age-appropriate flag football classes and leagues designed to help kids learn the game, build confidence, and enjoy team play in a supportive, non-contact environment.

The leagues are coed. Teams are drafted by the coaches after a period of evaluation in the opening sessions.

All teams are led by trained Asphalt Green coaches with experience working with youth athletes. Coaches emphasize sportsmanship, teamwork, and skill development while creating a safe, inclusive environment where kids feel supported both on and off the field.

Registration includes professional coaching, league play, and all necessary flag football equipment used during sessions. Families typically only need to provide athletic clothing and appropriate footwear (cleats if playing outdoors). Specific details are shared before the season begins.
