Competitive Teams

Asphalt Green Unified Aquatics (AGUA)

Going for the Goals!

The Asphalt Green Unified Aquatics (AGUA) team is New York City’s premier competitive swimming team. Every year, AGUA trains more than 300 children 6 to 18 years old from five boroughs of New York City, northern New Jersey and around the world. AGUA practices and trains at the George Delacorte Olympic Pool on our Upper East Side campus and the 25-yard lap pool at our Battery Park City campus.

AGUA teaches swimmers technical skills as well as responsibility, hard work, and sportsmanship. We teach our athletes how to balance academics and athletics to try and prepare them for the challenges of being a collegiate student-athlete. We believe the lessons learned from our pursuits in the pool translate to positive work habits in school and beyond.

In recent years, our Asphalt Green Unified Aquatics program has produced elite athletes who have gone on to break national records and compete in the Olympics. AGUA swimmers have been:

  • US Olympic team members
  • Olympic medalists
  • Olympic trials participants
  • Senior and Junior National Championship finalists
  • National Junior Team members
  • National Age Group and Metro LSC record holders
  • Ranked in the top 100 in the world
  • Ranked in the top 16 in the nation
