The Asphalt Green Unified Aquatics Masters Team took its training overseas for the first time this June.

From June 7 to June 14, 16 AGUA Masters Team members traded skyscrapers for seashells, taking their training to the tropical paradise of Grand Cayman.

Our athletes worked hard and played hard. They put in 15 hours of rigorous training over 10 practices, wrapping up the week by competing in the Flowers Sea Swim. The race is one of the largest one-mile open water races in the world. Marielle Balz made AGUA Masters proud, finishing 44 out of 900.

Of course, there was a lot of rest and relaxation between workouts. Asphalt Green swimmers enjoyed all that the island had to offer, swimming with stingrays, scuba diving, and relaxing by the beach.

Our swimmers are already excited for next year’s trip, which will be in February. Stay tuned for details, and join us! In the meantime, we hope to see you at the pool—in Manhattan!
