Kevin Burton
Kevin Burton brings a wealth of experience to Asphalt Green, spanning athletic leadership, law, teaching, and entrepreneurship, all united by a commitment to using sports to build community and opportunity.
Kevin most recently served as Athletic Director at Chelsea Piers Athletic Club in Stamford, Connecticut, where he led one of the region’s most comprehensive sports ecosystems. Prior to Chelsea Piers, Kevin spent seven years at Columbia University as Associate Athletics Director for Compliance, advising on NCAA policy, institutional integrity, and student-athlete development across 31 NCAA Division I sports programs.
He has also taught for over eight years at NYU’s Tisch Institute for Global Sport as an adjunct professor, leading courses on intercollegiate athletics administration, sports economics, and digital media and marketing. A licensed attorney, Kevin practiced civil litigation earlier in his career and co-founded Infinite Athletics, a youth basketball and sports performance business in New York City.
As Chief Program Officer, Kevin oversees Asphalt Green’s diverse portfolio of recreational and competitive sports, school- and community-based programs, and summer camps. He will utilize a universal coaching framework and evidence-informed practices to ensure every athlete, participant, and family can experience the highest quality programming, while advancing our mission to expand access to sports, fitness, and play across the city.
A former Division I basketball player at Boston University, Kevin still finds joy in staying active—whether it’s basketball, surfing, training, or simply spending time outdoors with his wife and two young children. Kevin is drawn to Asphalt Green because of his wholehearted belief in the transformative power of sports, fitness, and play which has shaped his identity both personally and professionally. He notes that Asphalt Green is a place where similar experiences can be nurtured, regardless of age, ability, background.
