YONG KANG

Yong Kang arrives at Asphalt Green with 25 years of experience in entrepreneurial leadership, corporate finance, and capital markets, bringing a commitment to excellence and innovation, as well as an ambition to create a lasting impact.

Yong most recently served as Chief Financial Officer of Pursuit Transformation Company, a leading workforce development nonprofit dedicated to lifting people from poverty into life-changing careers in technology. Prior to Pursuit, Yong built a distinguished career in investment banking at Citigroup, Lehman Brothers, and Barclays, where he advised organizations across a wide range of industries. Earlier in his career, Yong was a very early internet entrepreneur and co-founded Kozmo.com, the world’s first technology-enabled same-day urban delivery platform, gaining firsthand experience at the forefront of digital innovation.

Throughout his career as an entrepreneur, investment banker, and corporate finance executive, Yong has had the opportunity to collaborate with numerous talented and successful professionals, experiences that have shaped his strategic perspective and leadership approach. He holds a B.S. in Finance from NYU Stern School of Business and an MBA from MIT Sloan School of Management. In addition to his professional work, Yong volunteers regularly with his sons’ schools, reflecting his commitment to youth development and service.

Yong is drawn to Asphalt Green as a vital part of New York City’s history and fabric, and for its continued role in promoting health, fitness, and opportunity for all. As a father of two sons, he believes that good habits begin with an early appreciation for wellness and movement. As Chief Financial Officer, Yong hopes to help Asphalt Green reach its full potential and expand its mission, ensuring the organization remains strong, sustainable, and impactful in the years to come.

Outside of work, Yong enjoys spending time with his family, will play any sport with a racquet, follows many sports as a knowledgeable and dedicated fan, and occasionally works with new entrepreneurs as an investor or advisor.
