Agua and asphalt green sports 2025 wrapped
In 2025, Asphalt Green Unified Aquatics and Asphalt Green Sports followed up last year’s success and cemented their status as leading athletic programs in the country. Our teams won championships, competed around the globe, sent athletes to collegiate and professional teams, and brought the gifts of sports to more New Yorkers.

From nearly 300 wins to welcoming more athletes than ever before, AG Basketball showed why the program is a partner for every youth basketball journey.

2025 Season Achievements
- Fielded a record of 26 competitive teams during the 2024–25 season
- Achieved a 291–185 overall program record.
- Won 12 tournament championships.
- Sent a program-record nine teams to nationals in Massachusetts.
- Introduced a new competitive structure with national and regional teams.
- Celebrated the program’s first collegiate commitment: Sage Mateo to Cornell University.
- Provided free or reduced-price programming to more than 700 athletes through community partnerships,
- Hosted the first annual “Court Take Over” community event at BMCC with more than 100 participants.

2025 continued AGUA’s rise to the top, led by gifted athletes and coaches who reached their swimming dreams.

“AGUA had an incredibly successful year across all age groups and team members. We reached higher team rankings than ever before, set new Metropolitan Swimming and AGUA team records, and earned multiple national-level recognitions. We also welcomed many new swimmers and celebrated more than twenty graduates who are now enrolled at colleges of their choosing. With the support of the Asphalt Green community, we’ve built strong momentum heading into 2026.”

2025 Season Achievements
- Delivered one of the most successful years in AGUA history across all age groups.
- Achieved the highest team rankings in program history.
- Earned the highest-ever finish in the USA Swimming Virtual Club Championship program.
- Recognized as a top ten age group team by the American Swimming Coaches Association.
- Set more than 30 AGUA and Metropolitan Swimming program records.
- The Women’s Team won the 2025 Metropolitan Swimming Open Water Championships for the second consecutive year.
- The Men’s Team captured its first-ever Metropolitan Swimming Open Water Championship title.
- Ten swimmers were named USA Swimming Scholastic All-Americans.
- Milly Birch was selected for the USA Swimming National Select Camp.
- Earned USA Swimming Bronze Medal Club status for the second year in a row.
- Celebrated over 20 graduating swimmers who are now enrolled at colleges and universities.
- Ten athletes committed to swim and study at the collegiate level, including:
- Amherst College
- Bucknell University
- University of Chicago (2)
- University of Pennsylvania (2)
- Villanova University
- Wesleyan University
- Williams College
- Yale University
- Head Coach John Alaimo was recognized as a top-five age-group coach in the country by the American Swimming Coaches Association.
“Our goals for 2026 include reaching Gold Medal status in the USA Swimming Club Excellence program, continuing to develop our athletes both in and out of the water, and deepening our commitment to our team values of respect, accountability, and discipline. This includes more swimmers committing to swim in college, more personal best performances, and continued growth in confidence, community, and self-belief.”
This year, AGSC travelled internationally to learn and compete with the best clubs in the world while achieving many milestones at home.

“2025 marked another successful year for AGSC. The club got accepted into the National Academy League, marking another step forward in the club’s goal of becoming a leader in the region. We were recognized at the local, regional, and national level. Finally, our player pipeline continues to show its impact with players moving from our development and community programs into AGSC, and AGSC players moving into professional academies and colleges.”

2025 Season Achievements
- Hosted the largest Community Soccer League in AGSC history with more than 20 teams.
- Introduced the first-ever girls division of our Community Soccer League.
- Expanded community teams to include athletes born between 2012 and 2018.
- The 2015 Community Team finished second in the NY Latin League.
- B2013 team traveled to England and visited Liverpool FC, Manchester City, and Wrexham AFC.
- Hosted an International Youth Soccer Showcase with coaches from:
- Liverpool FC
- Everton FC
- Rayo Vallecano
- Madrid CFF
- River Plate
- Paris Saint-Germain
- Switzerland
- The German Football Federation
- Won the Disney Presidents’ Day Tournament and Jefferson Cup.
- All U9–U12 boys’ teams were promoted to the NYCSL Super League.
- The B2014 team earned a top-25 national ranking among more than 10,000 teams.
- Twelve players participated in the 2025 NYCFC / NY Red Bulls Academy ID process.
- Twenty-six players were included in the 2026 Academy ID process.
- Roberto Mendoza signed with the NY Red Bulls Academy U12.
- Pedro Mejia signed with the NYCFC Academy U12.
