What is your previous experience in sports?
I don’t really have any professional experience on a team like this, but growing up I played football, soccer, and basketball with kids in my neighborhood. I was also on the track team for about a month. I really wanted to be part of a team, have that sense of camaraderie, and play a sport I love. Football is something I really enjoy because of the teamwork and athleticism.
What advice do you have for someone coming from another sport into flag football?
Don’t be afraid to incorporate what you’ve learned from other sports—it’s all versatile and can help in different ways. But also, don’t be afraid to learn new things, because that will help you improve across all sports.
How would you describe the team culture?
I’ve only been to two practices so far, but there’s already a strong sense of sisterhood. Everyone is so friendly and inclusive—you never feel left out. Coach Scott makes everything easygoing and relaxing. I love being part of this environment.

What made you interested in joining flag football?
It’s been a couple of years since I played organized sports. I was looking to try something new, and a friend of mine who plays with Asphalt Green invited me to join the team. I wanted to learn the sport and it’s been amazing since I joined.
What advice would you give someone coming from another sport into flag football?
Have fun with the process. It’s new and can be challenging—you’ll be learning a lot of new movements—but it’s fun, and it pushes you to work hard and grow.
Caitlin Carroll

What is your previous experience in sports?
Growing up, I played soccer, basketball, and lacrosse through high school. I also played soccer at Stevens Institute of Technology in college.
Did you have any experience with flag football before joining the club?
No, I didn’t play flag football seriously before this—just casually in high school and elementary school.
What made you interested in joining the club?
I like trying new things. We were already playing soccer at Asphalt Green and heard about this from the coach. It seemed like a great time and a great way to meet new people and have fun.
Louise Gottwald

What’s your favorite part about being on the team?
Just the competitiveness that Scott wants us to bring to the team. Coming from college sports and getting to continue that into like my working life, having something outside of work to come and do and be competitive is really fun. And also meeting a lot of new people, making new friends has been awesome
What advice would you have for a younger girl getting into sports?
I say go for it. Try every single thing and just try as much as you can. And yeah, if if you like it, go and do it. If not, go and try something else. But sports are definitely for girls and every little girl who wants to try sports. I hope they have the opportunity to and you should absolutely get into it.
Danielle Ashby

What advice do you have for athletes coming from another sport?
Just to be open to new skills and learning new things and to not be scared to be nervous.
How would you describe the team culture?
I love it every day. Everyone is so sweet and welcoming, and always helpful during practice.

What made you interested in joining the Club?
I played flag football in high school. But now I just want to be active, especially as you become an adult. It’s a lot harder to find teams and I think that flag football is a great sport to get involved in, especially with its growing numbers and the fact that it’s a non-contact sport.
What advice would you have for someone considering flag football?
I think what’s most important above all is to pick a sport that you love and stick with it. I think as I’ve said before, being active is truly one of the best things that you can possibly do there’s an opportunity if you want to get involved in flag.

What advice do you have for someone considering trying flag football?
I think if you have a sports history, you’re going to be able to adapt really quickly. A lot of the girls that are here haven’t played flag football in the past and they’re doing great.
What made you decide to join the team?
I did flag football in high school, which was like 5 years ago, and then in college I played rugby. There was this one person that I played football with that told me I might like the Flag Football Club. Then, I showed up andI liked the vibes, so I kept on coming back.
Taliyah Jaishea Palmer

What’s your background in sports?
My previous experience in sports consists of school sports, mostly softball. I played for a club football team, and now I I box as well.
What drew you to flag football?
Coach Scott promoted the idea of being a hybrid athlete, and that definitely drew me into flag football itself because I feel like that’s something that described me.
What are your goals for the team?
I’m looking forward to competing with my team. I’m very excited to see how we all work as a conglomerate and as a personal goal. I’d love to be in the Olympics one day.
