Students in Core Level 2 will become more precise and well-rounded swimmers. Our instructors will continue to advance swimmers’ understanding of lane etiquette through exposure to circle swimming and more repetitions during each session. Students will review body movement and kicking skills for all four strokes and be taught drill progressions to help cement these skills. Students at this level will be asked to kick and swim with a combination of skill and speed.

Prerequisites: Students should have passed our Pre-School Level 3 class, or our Intro to Swimming class, or should be able to perform Freestyle and Dolphin kick with a kickboard, perform side-breathing for Freestyle, and perform Backstroke with straight-arm recovery.

Core Level 1 is designed for young swimmers to continue to refine their strokes and advance their skill sets for water safety, body awareness, and stroke mechanics for Backstroke and Freestyle, including bi-lateral breathing. Through advanced swimming instruction, our students will also continue to develop kicking and body mechanics for freestyle, backstroke, butterfly and breaststroke kick as well as underwater streamline push-offs.

Students in Core Level 3 will continue to refine and advance skills for all four strokes and kicks as well as develop competitive skills such as circle swimming, underwater streamline dolphin kicks, flip turns, and forward dives. These swimmers will elevate their kicking and swimming skills by advancing drill progressions as well as conditioning through quality repetitions with a mix of skill and speed.

No Prerequisites

Intro to Swimming is a beginner-level class for students 5 and older and designed for those with no experience swimming. Our instructors will work with the children to learn independence in the water, to submerge, to enter and exit the pool without assistance, breath control, assisted front and back floats. They will also use equipment like a kickboard to help build a foundation of kicking skills for Freestyle, Backstroke and Dolphin Kick, and swimming skills for Freestyle and Backstroke.

Designed for participants new to the aquatic's environment, this program will empower users to explore the water through guided splash & play. Our team of instructors will be available to support each user acclimate, teaching them rules of the pool and basic water safety tips. There is no course curriculum, and each user may have a different experience. Our goal is to provide an introductory experience to explore the water in a safe environment.

We encourage parents and caregivers to participate with their children. Children under 48 inches in height are required to have in-water parent/guardian participation.  

Note: All users who will participate in the water are required to register separately. IE: One registration for child; one child for parent/guardian.

Why Attendance Matters:To ensure the success of all swimmers and the efficient use of resources, participants must attend at least 75% of sessions. This policy helps foster consistent development and progress. Participants who fail to meet this attendance policy may be subject to removal in subsequent terms.

Playground Pathways is a structured, inclusive physical activity class that supports children of all abilities in developing foundational motor, social, and play skills in a community recreation setting.

Participants engage in guided activities that build coordination, balance, strength, and motor planning through playground-based movement such as climbing, swinging, balancing, and navigating obstacle-style challenges. Sessions also include opportunities to learn and practice common playground and recess games that promote turn-taking, following directions, communication, and cooperative play with peers.

Participants complete an intake form prior to joining so instructors can better understand each child’s strengths, support needs, and goals. Asphalt Green’s classes are designed to support participants with a range of needs including, but not limited to, ADHD, Autism, Sensory Processing Disorder, gross motor delays, Down syndrome, and other developmental differences.

The sessions are facilitated by trained instructors and assistants who provide individualized support, prompting, and activity modifications as needed to help participants build independence, confidence, and meaningful peer engagement. Activities are designed to support skill development that can generalize to playgrounds, schools, and other community recreation environments.

All classes are open to the public and welcome participants of all abilities. At Asphalt Green, Everyone Plays.

Pre-School Level 1 will introduce children to class time without their parents in the water. To ease the kids into the separation, we ask parents to participate in the water for part of the term and then gradually transition out of the water completely as the class progresses.
